The foundation for the optics is the stand. It must
be rigid and massive so that simply touching the optics has little or no effect on the image.
It is likely to be the least expensive system part, yet it determines how well the other components
can perform. A good boomstand will still be in use even after the optics and cameras
have been replaced several times over.
